Privacy Policy
Last updated: March 2025. We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes in the app or by email if you have given us your address. The current version is always at mallopal.com/privacy.
Who we are
MalloPal (“we”, “our”) operates Mallo, an AI companion app that remembers you and supports daily check-ins. This policy describes how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use Mallo (the “Service”).
Information we collect
When you use Mallo, we collect:
- Conversation and memory content: Messages you send and receive, and information Mallo remembers about you, so we can power replies, memory, and features like weekly recap.
- Usage data: How you use the app (e.g. feature usage, subscription tier, paywall and subscription events) to improve the service, enforce limits, and—where you have consented—to measure and optimize advertising (see “Advertising and analytics” below).
- Device and identifiers: Device type, OS (e.g. iOS or Android), and a device or app identifier. We use this for compatibility, support, subscription restore, and—where applicable and with your consent—for ad measurement (e.g. Apple’s App Tracking Transparency on iOS).
- Optional: If you use photo recognition, photos you choose to share with Mallo are processed to provide that feature.
Data is stored on your device. Conversation and memory content is also sent to our systems to generate Mallo’s responses and to support persistent memory, check-ins, recap, text-to-speech, and vision features.
Advertising and analytics
We use the following for analytics and, when we run ad campaigns, for measurement and optimization:
- Firebase / Google Analytics: General app usage and events (e.g. paywall views, subscription events). This helps us improve the product and can be linked to Google Ads for conversion measurement. Google Privacy Policy.
- Meta (Facebook): If we run Meta ad campaigns, we send certain app events (e.g. paywall view, trial start, subscribe) to Meta for measurement and optimization. Meta may collect identifiers as described in their policy. On iOS we only do this after you have been shown Apple’s App Tracking Transparency prompt and, where required, with your consent. Meta Privacy Policy.
- TikTok: If we run TikTok ad campaigns, we send certain app events (e.g. paywall view, trial start, subscribe) to TikTok for measurement and optimization. TikTok Privacy Policy.
We do not sell your personal data. We do not use the content of your conversations for advertising.
Third-party service providers
We use these providers to operate Mallo:
- Google (Gemini / Google Cloud): Conversation content is sent to our backend and then to Google’s AI services to generate Mallo’s replies. Google Privacy Policy.
- RevenueCat: We use RevenueCat to manage in-app subscriptions and restore purchases. Purchase and subscription-related data is processed by RevenueCat. RevenueCat Privacy Policy.
- Apple / Google (stores): When you subscribe via the App Store or Google Play, payment and subscription data are processed by Apple or Google under their respective privacy terms.
We do not sell your data to these or any other third parties. They process data only to provide the services we use to run Mallo.
How we use your information
We use your information to:
- Provide and improve Mallo (replies, memory, check-ins, recap, voice, photo recognition).
- Process subscriptions and manage access (e.g. via Apple or Google and RevenueCat).
- Measure and improve the app and, when we run ads, to measure and optimize those campaigns (subject to your choices, e.g. ATT on iOS).
- Comply with law and protect our rights.
Your choices and control
In the app, you can:
- Export or delete your data: Use the Privacy (or Data) section in Settings to export your data or delete all app data.
- Tracking (iOS): When we use tracking for ad measurement, we ask via Apple’s App Tracking Transparency. You can change your choice later in device Settings.
You can also contact us (see “Contact” below) to request access, correction, deletion, or portability of your data, or to object to or restrict processing, where applicable by law.
Data security
We use encryption in transit (HTTPS) when your data is sent to our servers. Data at rest is stored in a secure manner. You can export or delete your data from the Privacy (or Data) section in Settings.
Data retention
We retain conversation and memory data as long as needed to provide Mallo and as required by law. If you use “Delete all data” in the app’s Privacy section, we remove your conversations, memories, and preferences. A device identifier may be retained so you can restore your subscription if you reinstall. We otherwise delete or anonymize data in line with our systems and legal obligations.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or port your data, or to object to or restrict processing. You can export your data and delete all app data from the Privacy section in Settings. For other requests, contact us at the details below.
Children
Mallo is not directed at children under 13 (or a higher age where required by law). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have collected such information, please contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top reflects the latest version. We will notify you of material changes in the app or by other reasonable means. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated policy.
