Who we are
MalloPal (“we”, “our”) operates the Mallo app, an AI companion that remembers you and checks in with you. This policy describes how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use Mallo.
Information we collect
When you use Mallo, we collect:
- Conversation content: Messages you send and receive, so we can power Mallo’s replies and memory.
- Usage data: How you use the app (e.g. feature usage, subscription tier) to improve the service and enforce limits.
- Device information: Device type and OS (e.g. iOS) for compatibility and support.
Data is stored on your device. Conversation content is also sent to our systems to generate Mallo’s responses and to support features like persistent memory and weekly recap.
How we use your information
We use your information to:
- Provide and improve Mallo (replies, memory, check-ins, weekly recap).
- Process subscriptions and manage your account (e.g. via Apple).
- Comply with law and protect our rights.
We do not sell your personal data. We do not use your conversations for advertising.
Data security
We use encryption in transit (e.g. HTTPS) when your data is sent to our servers. Data at rest is stored in a secure manner. You can export or delete your data from the Privacy dashboard in Settings in the app.
Data retention
We retain conversation and memory data as long as needed to provide Mallo and as required by law. If you delete your data in the app, we will delete or anonymize it in line with our systems and legal obligations.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or port your data, or to object to or restrict processing. You can export your data and delete all app data from the Privacy dashboard in Settings. For other requests, contact us using the details below.
Children
Mallo is not directed at children under 13 (or higher age where required). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have collected such information, please contact us and we will delete it.
Companion, not professional care
Mallo is a companion app and is not a substitute for professional mental health or medical care. If you are in crisis, please contact a qualified professional or emergency services.
